Lenzing PROFILEN® - soft, smooth, non-absorbable
As a monofilament thread, Lenzing PROFILEN® consists of only one filament, i.e. a fiber with a smooth, closed surface. In the above-mentioned areas of application, the most important thing is good, soft tissue traction without additional traumatization. This is ensured by the use of monofilament surgical PTFE suture material.
Another major advantage of monofilament PTFE suture material is the avoidance of capillarity. Since it is a single thread, Lenzing PROFILEN® has neither sub-threads nor interstices as is the case with polyfilament surgical suture material. This structure eliminates the so-called dreaded wicking effect and significantly reduces the risk of bacterial colonization or spread. Lenzing PROFILEN® also scores with its high tensile strength and high longitudinal elasticity, which is absolutely essential for vascular ligations, for example.
