Mechanical engineer

Working as a metal technician (previously mechanical engineer) is a very practice-oriented profession. Here, you work in new manufacturing of parts, maintenance, assembly, servicing and commissioning of machines and systems. You also help with repair and reconstruction work. The manufacture and installation of replacement parts and machine elements are just as much a part of your tasks as the production and testing of pneumatic and hydraulic controls. You must detect, limit and eliminate defects and faults in systems and machines.

As a metal technician, you have the following tasks and challenges:

  • Manufacture, assembly, attaching, mounting and dismantling of components, machines, devices, equipment and constructions, based on instructions and drawings
  • Working with mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Manual production of workpieces and working with drilling, milling, turning and welding machines, in compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
  • Creation of sketches and technical drawings, including with the aid of CAD programs
  • Programming and operation of computer-assisted (CNC) tooling machinery
  • Systematic searching for, containment and elimination of errors, defects and faults in components, machines and devices
  • Collecting and documenting technical data on work flows and work results
